The Village has a Council-Manager form of government which was adopted in 1953 by referendum. The Board is made up of the Village President and six trustees. All are elected for four year terms on an at-large basis. Also elected for a four year term is the Village Clerk.

Regular Board of Trustees meetings are cablecast live on NCTV- Cable Channel 17, and replayed the following day at 9am and 7pm and the following Sunday at 9am and 7pm. Tune in and watch your local officials in action. If you don't have cable television and would like to borrow or purchase a videotape of a meeting, please call 847 272-5050, ext. 4226.
