Community Rating System (CRS)
In 1995, the Village submitted its application in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS). Participation in the CRS results in a specified percent (%) rate reduction in the flood insurance premiums that are paid by residents who carry flood insurance policies points by implementing certain floodplain development regulations, flood awareness projects and activities. Since June 1, 1994, the Village has been re-classified as a Class 7 community which resulted in a fifteen (15%) percent rate reduction for flood insurance policies issued, or renewed on or after this date. The numerous additional activities include mailing information and materials specifically targeted to floodplain properties, and creating this portion of our website.
