News from Veolia: Oversized Cans Notice
General Regulations
All refuse must be out before 6:30 a.m. for collection on your pick-up day. Veolia will pickup a maximum of three (3) thirty-two gallon containers, plus an addtional five (5) bags of incidental refuse with each collection. Containers and bags must not exceed 50 lbs. If you have backdoor service, the extra bags must be placed at the curb for collection. There are four (4) options to choose from:
- Once per week curbside
- Twice per week curbside
- Once per week backdoor
- Twice per week backdoor
Veolia offers a 95 gallon toter if you so choose. These are currently rented for $2.25 per month and are an option for curbside collection only.
Backdoor service means Veolia will come up your driveway and collect a maximum of three (3) thirty-two gallon cans of household trash only from in front of your garage or similar location around your home. Veolia will never come inside your garage. Refuse must be outside to be collected. Recycling and yard waste must always be placed curbside for collection.
Be sure to secure your refuse to prevent wind blown litter. On windy days, we recommend that you secure your waste in plastic bags and do not put trash can lids out unless they are secured to the can. Veolia is not responsible for lost or missing lids or cans due to wind or normal wear and tear.

Please check to see if your pick-up was tagged indicating a reason we did not make the collection. If there is no tag or you have questions as to why, please contact the Veolia office at (847) 272-4145.
Disposal Service - Business
Business scavenger collection is provided by a competitive bid process under which up to six firms are granted business licenses to solicit and perform scavenger services for Northbrook businesses. The business licenses are reviewed annually. For information on the licensed haulers, call (847) 272-5050, ext. 247.
