The Economic Development Committee consists of representatives from the local taxing districts (the local elementary and high school districts, the Park District, the Village and the Public Library), the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, local business owners and managers, and members of the community at large. Each taxing district and the Chamber of Commerce appoint their individuals members, while the Village President, with the approval of the Board of Trustees, appoints the other members.

Economic Development Committee is committed to fostering the economic vitality of the greater Northbrook community, including the Village of Northbrook, the school districts, park district, library, residents and area businesses. The EDC provides a continuing forum for the exchange of ideas and information concerning land use and financial conditions. The Committee promotes the implementation of appropriate economic development policies for the community as a whole.
