Project Description
This project involves the installing a new low-flow storm sewer system from Keystone Road to West Park, where the existing detention basin will be expanded to handle the additional runoff. This project will help alleviate flooding that occurs on both Keystone Road and Chartres Drive during moderate and heavy rain events.Project Locations

Work on this project is now substantially complete.

November 11, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor began working on final restoration and clean-up for this project, including concrete paving for curb, gutter and sidewalk. Next week, asphalt paving is scheduled for Monday, November 13 and Tuesday, November 14, weather permitting. Following this work, crews will begin final restoration of landscaping.
November 3, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor continued working on, and is expected to complete the installation of a 24-inch storm sewer on Keystone Road, between 2995 Keystone and the Chartres Drive intersection. A second crew also completed the installation of a siphon storm sewer on Koepke Road earlier in the week. Finally, a third crew began preparation for restorations on Koepke Road. At this time, landscaping in West Park is nearing completion.
October 13, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor continued seeding and placement of erosion blanket in West Park Next week, crews will complete landscaping in West Park and installation of sewer across Koepke Road and in the easement that will be used to reach Keystone. This work will result in periodic road closures on Koepke and motorists should follow construction signage.
October 6, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor completed re-spreading the topsoil in West Park for final grading and began final landscaping. Next week, crews will begin installing storm sewer on Koepke Road, which will result in the street being open to local traffic only.
September 29, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor completed all storm sewer and water main work required in West Park. Beginning next week, crews will be spreading topsoil throughout the park and doing final landscaping. Storm sewer installation will begin on Koepke Road the following week.
September 22, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor began underground work in West Park. This included lowering a water main along the south side of the park and the installation of storm sewer, inlets and catch basins throughout the park. Beginning next week, crews will begin placing new storm sewer from West Park north across Koepke Road. . This will result in short term road closures on Koepke. Signs will be posted to alert motorists to closures. While the sewer crew is installing this storm sewer, grading crews will return to begin the final grading of West Park.
September 15, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor continued earthwork at West Park (1730 Pfingsten Road) in anticipation of constructing the new stormwater detention basins and soccer fields. Next week, sewer crews are scheduled to begin placing storm sewer starting at the south end of West Park. Additionally, an existing water main at the south end of the park is scheduled to be lowered. At this time, there are no road closures on Koepke or Keystone Roads due to scheduled construction.
September 8, 2017
This week, the contractor began re-grading portions of West Park for creation of the stormwater detention. This project is scheduled to be completed in November.
September 1, 2017
This week, the Village’s contractor began mobilizing earth-moving equipment to regrade the West Park open areas for stormwater detention. On Monday, crews removed trees located in an area where they could not be saved, due to the change in the grade of the expanded West Park detention basin. Staff worked with the Park District to establish a landscape plan for this project that includes a “tree for tree” replacement of those removed trees. Crews also installed tree protection and silt fencing for tree protection and erosion control. This project is scheduled to be completed in November, weather permitting.
August 25, 2017
As part of an effort to help alleviate flooding on Keystone Road and Chartres Drive following major rain events, the Village’s contractor will begin construction of the Keystone/Chartres stormwater project. This project involves installing a new, low flow storm water system from Keystone to West Park. The project will improve flooding conditions on Keystone and Koepke Roads. Staff anticipates that the Village’s contractor will begin initial work next week installing construction fencing and removing trees, with detention basin grading beginning immediately after Labor Day.Communications
