Project Description
The Village of Northbrook proactively reviews the condition of its streets on a regular basis to identify problems and appropriate measures to correct them. This project involves a full reconstruction of a concrete segment of Anthony Trail located between MacArthur and Commercial Avenues.As part of this, the entire roadway will be replaced as well as the roadway base and adjacent sidewalks.

This week, the Village’s contractor continued final restoration and reopened the street to two-way traffic.
This project is now substantially complete. The Village thanks all the businesses located in this area for their
patience and cooperation during this project.

This week, the Village’s contractor continued work on the fourth and final phase of the project, which includes removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk on the eastern side of Anthony Trail between Macarthur Avenue and Commercial Avenue. Next week, crews will begin site restoration.

This week, the Village’s contractor began work on the fourth and final phase of the project, which includes removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk on the eastern side of Anthony Trail between Macarthur and Commercial. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue however, access will remain open for all businesses

This week’s inclement weather delayed the Anthony Trail reconstruction project. The contractor completed installation of 800 feet of sidewalk but was unable to advance further. Next week, crews will begin the fourth and final phase of the project, which includes removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk on the eastern side of Anthony Trail between Macarthur and Commercial Avenues. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue. However, access will remain open for all businesses located on the section of Anthony Trail under construction.

This week, the Village’s contractor completed the third phase of the project, which included removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk located on the western side of Anthony Trail between Commercial Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard. Next week, crews will begin the final phase of the project, which includes removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk on the eastern side of Anthony Trail between Macarthur and Commercial. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue. However, access will remain open for all businesses located on the section of Anthony Trail under construction.
April 19, 2019
This week, the Village’s contractor completed the second phase of the project, which included removing and replacing the pavement, curb and sidewalk located immediately south of the intersection of Anthony and Macarthur Avenue. Next week, crews will begin removing and replacing the pavement, curb and sidewalk on the western side of Anthony Trail between Macarthur and Commercial Avenue. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue. However, access will remain open for all businesses.
April 12, 2019
This week, the Village’s contractor completed installation of the new pavement and sidewalk included in the first phase of the project. Crews also began the second phase of the project, which will involve removing and replacing the pavement, curb and sidewalk located immediately south of the intersection of Anthony Trail and Macarthur Avenue. This work will continue next week. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue. However, access will remain open for all businesses.
April 5, 2019
This week, the Village’s contractor completed the first phase of pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk removal on Anthony Trail. The contractor also completed the installation of new curb in this first phase. Next week, crews will complete the new curb installations and begin pavement removal for the second phase of the project, which will involve removing and replacing the pavement, curb, and sidewalk located immediately south of the intersection of Anthony Trail and Macarthur Avenue. During this stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue; however, access will remain open for all businesses.
March 29, 2019
This week, the Village’s contractor completed saw cutting the concrete roadway and removing and replacing the existing underground storm sewer (pictured right). Next week, crews will begin removing the roadway. During this initial stage, traffic will be detoured to Macarthur Avenue via Wainwright Drive and Commercial Avenue.

The Village’s contractor will begin the Anthony Trail Reconstruction Project next week, weather permitting. The initial work for this project will include saw cutting of the roadway in preparation for removal. Motorists are asked to use caution in the work area and to expect full lane closures as the project progresses.

On Wednesday, February 27, the Village held a pre-construction meeting with representatives from the Village’s contractor, the Police Department, and the Fire Department. Construction on this project will begin on or around Monday, March 11, weather permitting.
February 27, 2019 - Contract Awarded
At the Tuesday, February 26 Village Board Meeting, the Village Board awarded the contract for this project. Work is scheduled to begin later this spring. More details will be posted as they become available.
