2021 Shermer Road Sidepath
The Village of Northbrook has begun Preliminary Engineering to investigate the possibility of constructing a multi-use side path along Shermer Road. The anticipated project would involve the construction of a new path on the east side of Shermer Road between Willow Road and Walters Avenue that will provide a connection to the recently completed multi-use path in the Village of Glenview. The goal of this project is to provide dedicated, separated facilities for bicyclists and pedestrians, and connect the various residences and businesses to public transportation and existing bicycle facilities. The multi-use path would serve the Central Business District, the local Metra station, Glenbrook North High School, Maple School, several major industrial businesses and residential developments. This project was designated as a high priority in the Village’s 2018 Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, the Village Board approved Resolution 2020-102, which awarded the preliminary engineering services contract to A. Epstein and Sons.
