[ARCHIVED] A Statement from the Northbrook Chief of Police

PD

The Northbrook Police Department treats all people fairly, impartially, and with concern and compassion, to reduce crime and the fear of crime within the community.

Yes, Northbrook Police Officers enforce the laws, but our officers also provide support, dispel fear, instill confidence in the government we represent, and act as caretakers to our community. We do not take these responsibilities lightly.

At the Northbrook Police Department, we believe the authority represented by our police star is not conveyed solely by being a police officer, but more importantly by the trust of our community. We hold that trust with the highest regard and use it to inform our decisions and interactions.

As a Department, we are committed to the protection of constitutional rights of all persons under our watch, no exceptions. We are dedicated to fair and impartial actions and respectful interactions, and we believe that there is no excuse for the use of force in a manner meant to punish or intimidate an individual.
