[ARCHIVED] UPRR Techny Road Bridge Repairs

Construction Alert

The Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR) owns and maintains the bridge structure carrying the UPRR over Techny Road at 1603 Techny. The UPRR has determined that appropriate repairs are necessary, including exterior concrete removal and the replacement of the structure in areas such as the underside of the arch and external vertical faces of the structure.

Work will begin the week of October 5 and is expected to be complete in late December. Some minor work items (pavement paint markings, seeding, etc.) will be completed in the spring of 2021 due to temperature restrictions. Construction will take place in phases with traffic on Techny Road being restricted to one lane near the bridge. Temporary traffic signals will be installed on both sides of the bridge, restricting traffic to a single lane for the duration of the project. If work cannot safely be performed at the top of the arch, a full closure of Techny Road may be required for two to three weeks.

Construction activities may take place between 7am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, and Saturdays between 9am and 5pm. If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact Matt Farmer, Village Engineer, at 847-664-4120.
