Northbrook Welcomes Back Traditional 4th of July Events

4th of July

The Village of Northbrook and Northbrook Park District are thrilled to announce the return of Northbrook’s classic 4th of July events, including the Mile-Long Parade, a community favorite!

Festivities will begin at 7:30am with the Rotary Club of Northbrook’s 4th of July Breakfast at Village Green Park and the Park District’s Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk at Techny Prairie Park & Fields at 7:30am, followed by the Liberty Lap Fun Run at 8:30am. At 10am, gather to cheer on Northbrook’s first responders at the Police vs. Fire Softball Game at Village Green Park.

In the afternoon, the Bike Parade will kick off at 2:15pm at Cherry Lane and Western Avenue ahead of the time-honored Mile-Long Parade at 2:30pm. Jesse Compher, Northbrook native and Olympic silver medalist, has been named this year’s Grand Marshal. After a two-year parade hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village and Park District are excited to once again showcase Northbrook’s joyful spirit and community togetherness. Local businesses, community organizations, specialty groups, performers, political groups, and sponsors are all invited to participate and help make this year’s parade the best Northbrook has seen! Parade applications and sponsorship information are available here. The deadline to apply is May 31.

At 7pm, gather at Meadowhill Park for DJ entertainment at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome and order dinner from the Soul and Smoke food truck at the Chalet. Finish your 4th of July celebration with a boom at the spectacular fireworks display at dusk, which can be viewed from Meadowhill Park and Techny Prairie Park & Fields.
