December 9, 2025, 7:30 p.m. Meeting
Highlights of action taken include:
- Approved the appointment of members to the Ad Hoc 125th Anniversary Celebration Commission.
- The Village Board formally adopted a Village Proclamation previously read on November 11, 2025 expressing deep concern regarding reports of immigration enforcement activity in our region, including in and around Northbrook, both in incorporated and unincorporated areas and affirming the Village Board’s support for the community, support and defense of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois noting the rights and liberties guaranteed to every person under our nation’s founding document and the Constitution’s promises of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, due process of law, equal protection, and the right to live without unreasonable searches or seizures as these are not privileges reserved for a few; they are fundamental rights that extend to all people within our borders.
- Approved an agreement for third party ambulance billing services.
- Approved an updated timeline for construction of Hometown Coffee under the new Zoning Code as well as recent State changes to downtown parking requirements.
- Approved the rezoning of 85-95 Revere Drive from I-1 Restricted Industrial District to O-2 Limited Office District as designated in the Compreenhive Plan.
- Approved the establishment of a Retirement Healthcare Funding Plan between the Village and Local 1894 International Association of Firefighters as provided in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Approved the Tax Year 2025 Property Tax Levy to fund municipal operations, debt service, and required pension fund contributions into the Police Pension Fund, Firefighters’ pension plans and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
- Repealed Chapter 15 Article XIX of the Municipal Code regarding vehicle license (aka vehicle sticker) eliminating the requirement for residents to purchase vehicle stickers annually. In most cases, the typical household, especially those with multiple vehicles, will see a reduction in their taxpayer burden.
- Held a public hearing and approved amendments to an existing special permit to related to notification procedures regarding a change in operators at 1000 Sunset Ridge Road, a senior living community.
- Held a public hearing and approved amendments to the municipal code regarding commissions in order to comply with the newly adopted zoning code which simplifies and streamlines many application and development processes.
- Approved the installation of solar panels on the Public Works Center roof providing an opportunity to offset energy consumption at the facility by generating renewable energy.
- Approved the construction of a new Fire Station 11 at 820 Dundee Road to replace the existing 1971 Fire Station 11.
- Approved an agreement with Prairie State Cycling Series, LLC to host the Northbrook Grand Prix in July 2026.
- Approved Northbrook Civic Foundation’s request, to use the West Metra Commuter lot for the 2026 Northbrook Days Festival.
Fire Lieutenants Brandon and Brian Collazo were presented the MABAS-IL Humanitarian Award at the beginning of the meeting.
