1. Is there a fee for the carts?

There is no fee for the initial garbage and recycling carts. Residents may rent additional refuse and recycling carts for $2.02/month.

2. How do I sign up for the Hardship program?

Residents may apply in limited instances for a hardship status. If a customer qualifies for hardship status, the customer may elect to receive 1 time a Week Backdoor Service at the 1 time a Week Curb Service rate.

In order to qualify, residents must meet the following criteria:

A “Hardship Customer” is a Customer who is physically unable to place refuse containers at the curb and has no family member or other person living in the residence that are able to place refuse and/or recycling containers at the curb.

To apply for this status, residents should contact the Village Manager’s office at 847-664-4010. The Village will review each request on a case by case basis to determine if a residence qualifies for hardship status. The Hardship Program applies to both refuse and recycling.

3. I am not happy with the cart size I have. How do I exchange?

Each resident may exchange either their refuse or recycling cart for a different size during the month of September each year at no additional cost. If a cart size change is requested any other time of the year, there will be a a cost of $20.24 / cart. If a resident wishes to swap cart sizes and avoid the $20.24 fee, the resident can bring the cart to Advanced Disposal, 2800 Shermer Road and a different cart size will be provided at no additional cost.

4. How do I schedule White Goods to be collected?

White goods (stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers) must be handled separately from your trash. Please contact Advanced Disposal at 847-272-4145 to schedule these collections. They will typically be scheduled for Wednesdays. There is a cost of $35.42 for each white good.

5. How do I get rid of bulk items like furniture?

You may place 1 bulk item at the curb each week on your pick up day for collection at no charge. Please call Advanced Disposal the day before your collection day so that they can be sure to let the driver know in advance. Contact Advanced at 847-272-4145.

6. Both the 65-gallon and 95-gallon garbage carts are too large for my residence, is there another option?

At this time, Advanced Disposal has a limited number of 35-gallon garbage carts. If you could like to inquire about receiving this size cart, please contact Ben Dykstra, Advanced Disposal Area Manager, at 847-412-6107. Advanced Disposal is currently working to order more of these size cans. As they become available, we will make the community aware.

7. I have backdoor collection service, why did I receive a new garbage (green with a green lid) cart?

This garbage cart was delivered in error. Residents with backdoor service should continue to use their own 33-gallon refuse cans or bags. For backdoor service, recycling collection is still at the curb. To have the cart collected, please contact Advanced Disposal at 847-272-4145.
