On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the Village of Northbrook Board of Trustees held a meeting to officially seat its newly elected and returning officials. During the meeting, Village President Kathryn Ciesla and the Board of Trustees expressed their gratitude to two long-serving public officials who stepped down.
Trustee Daniel Pepoon, who served the Village for 21 years, and Clerk A.C. Buehler III, who has dedicated 33 years to public service in various roles, were each honored with resolutions recognizing their outstanding contributions to the community. Following their recognition, the newly elected and re-elected members were officially sworn in to serve a four year term (2025-2029):
Village President - Kathryn Ciesla An attorney at law and a member of Village government since 2009, this is her second term as Village President.
Village Trustee - Joy EbhomielenA senior finance manager serving as a Trustee since 2021, this is her second term as a Village Trustee.
Village Trustee - Michelle KohlerA Chief Marketing Officer serving as a Trustee since 2023, this will be her first full term as a Village Trustee.
Village Trustee - Matt CassidyA financial technology professional who previously served on the District 28 school board, this is his first term as a Village Trustee.
Village Clerk - Derek Gau (2025-2029)
The head of a software integration consultancy and a Northbrook resident for 16 years, this is his first term as Village Clerk.
Returning Members:
Village Trustee - Robert Israel (2023-2027)A Civil Engineer and a member of Village government since 2011.
Village Trustee - Heather Ross (2023-2027)An attorney at law serving the Village since 2019.
Village Trustee - Johannah Hebl (2023-2027)An attorney at law serving the Village since 2019.
