January 27, 2026, 7:30 p.m. Meeting
Highlights of action taken include:
- The Oath of Office was taken by newly hired Firefighter/Paramedics Thomas Moran, Maxwell Oberman, Daniel Birch, Jack Moran, Logan Goessele, and Alexander Becker.
- Presented a Proclamation Recognizing January 27, 2026 as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
- Confirmed approval for the purchase of additional rock salt for roadway de-icing following several snow and ice events this season.
- Approved the renewal of the Village’s membership to the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA). NIPSTA provides cost-effective training opportunities for the Police, Fire, and Public Works departments.
- Approved an economic incentive agreement with Euromarket Designs, for retention of the Crate and Barrel corporate headquarters in the Village via rebate of a portion of the Village’s share of property taxes paid annually over ten years.
- Approved the voluntary annexation of 3669 Maple Avenue to connect to Village utilities.
- Approved a Limited Groundwater Use Ordinance at the south side of Stanley Street and 300-feet east of Shermer Road , commonly known as 1919 Stanley Street and adjacent properties as part of the property owner’s work with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency seeking State approval that contamination on the property meets all required cleanup standards also known as a No Further Remediation (NFR) Letter.
- Discussed starting the next Regular Village Board meeting early at 6 p.m. on February 10, 2026 to review the current rules for signs/displays at the Shermer-Walters Public Forum; discuss alternative rules/uses of that Village property and whether a temporary moratorium on the placement of signs/displays should be considered while public comment is requested and hear public comments on the matter.
