  1. The Northbrook Arts Commission, in collaboration with the Northbrook Public Library, is pleased to announce the 2026 Northbrook Originals Art Exhibition. This show will be on exhibit in the library on all 3 floors from April 4 to May 31, 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for Northbrook’s artists to have their original artwork seen by the community. 

    There will be award ribbons and restaurant gift cards for this show. Independent and qualified judges will determine the awards.

    The Northbrook Arts Commission is an advisory board of Northbrook residents, appointed by the Village President. The Arts Commission meets the first Thursday of every month at 7pm. The Commission is guided by the mission of encouraging the development and enjoyment of the arts in Northbrook.

    Requirements:

    • Eligibility: The show is open to all Northbrook artists 18 years and older. Works must be original, executed by the artist.
    • Art Categories: paintings, watercolor, oil, pastel, gouache, acrylic, drawings, printmaking, photography, and mixed media.
    • Artwork: Must be wired for hanging, no sawtooth hangers.
    • Artwork wider than 30” and longer than 30” will only be accepted on a space available basis.
    • Northbrook Artists can submit 1 entry per person in this open, non-juried show of 2D artwork.  There will not be a formal selection process or notification of acceptance.  

    The Arts Commission and the Library do not publicize prices on artwork; however, the exhibiting artists’ contact information will be displayed.

    Important Dates: 

    • Exhibit dates: Saturday, April 4 to Sunday, May 31, 2026
    • Application deadline: Friday, March 20, 2026
    • Art delivery dates: April 2 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm and 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at the 2nd floor Library reference desk
    • Artist Reception: April 30 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
    • Art Pick-up date: June 1 from 10:00am-12:00pm and 5:00pm-7:00pm at the 2nd floor Library reference desk

    The Northbrook Public Library reserves the right to not display any artwork that violates its display and exhibit policy.

  2. Description:

    Title, Medium & Size of the framed artwork. ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. 

  3. Acknowledgment and Signature**

    I have read and understand the Exhibition Procedure and Rules and agree to the Terms and Conditions listed above. I release the Northbrook Public Library and the Northbrook Arts Commission (the “Northbrook Entities”) from all responsibility, liability, and claims of loss for accidental loss or damage of any kind to artwork submitted. I grant permission for images of my artwork to be used on the Village of Northbrook website and promotional materials for the Northbrook Arts Commission. The Northbrook Arts Commission will not publish, sell, or reproduce images of the artwork for payment or profit.

  4. 22nd Annual Northbrook Originals Exhibit

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    • The Artist assumes the full risk of any costs, damages, claims, injuries and losses that the Artist may sustain as a result of the display of the Artwork at the Exhibit.
    • The Artist hereby waives, relinquishes, and releases any and all claims of every kind, known and unknown, present and future, that the Artist may have against the Northbrook Entities and their officers, agents, servants, and employees, arising out of, connected with, or in any way related to the Artwork or the Exhibit.
    • The Artist hereby indemnifies and holds harmless the Northbrook Entities and their officers, agents, servants, and employees from any and all third party claims or actions arising out of, connected with, or in any way related to the Artwork or the Exhibit.
    • Insurance on all Artwork is the sole responsibility of the Artist.
    • Submitted Artwork may not contain any matter, in writing or in a depiction, that, when considered as a whole, predominantly appeals to prurient interests
    • If the Artist does not pick up the Artwork at the end of the Exhibit, the Northbrook Entities may return the Artwork to the Artist at the Artist's expense.
    • It is understood that an attendant will not be assigned to guard the Artwork during the Exhibit.
    • The Northbrook Entities will not facilitate or manage the sale of the Artwork in any way.
    • By submitting this online application the Artist grants permission to have photographs of the Artist’s Artwork displayed in the Village of Northbrook’s related publications; provided, however that the Artwork or derivative images thereof shall not be published, displayed, or sold in exchange for payment or profit.
