For the Village Board meeting on June 10, 2025, 7:30 p.m.
Meeting highlights of action taken include:
- The Oath of Office was taken by newly promoted Fire Captain Brad Putney, Fire Lieutenant Ted Peters, and new Firefighter/Paramedic Jacob Fiolka.
- Adopted a Proclamation recognizing June 19 as Juneteenth.
- Authorized the replacement of cardiac monitor defibrillators for the Fire Department as current monitors reach the end of use.
- Approved Paramedic Licensure Education through Endeavor Health Highland Park Hospital EMS System for paramedic education for recruit firefighters.
- Authorized a contract for Maintenance of Traffic Signal System Components associated with the Village’s 14 signalized intersections and 57 Electronic Vehicle Pre-emption (EVP).
- Approved the use of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the Asphalt Street Rehabilitation Program and authorized a contract with Schroeder Asphalt Service, Inc. for the current fiscal year Asphalt Street Rehabilitation Program which includes pavement milling and resurfacing of public asphalt streets and select patching of defective areas of pavement on various streets.
- Authorized Strategic Planning Services with BerryDunn to conduct a Strategic Plan via a planning process to identify key community priorities and direct future budgeting initiatives.
- Authorized Communication Services with a5 to coordinate across public platforms to elevates day-to-day communications.
- Approved Amendments to the 2020 Village of Northbrook Affordable Housing Plan as part of a required review by the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
- Approved Village Manager authority to grant outdoor dining permit of public right-of-way (i.e. sidewalks) in Northbrook downtown areas that are within the Village Green Overlay zoning district.
- Preliminary Review was presented for a zoning request by owners of 1901 Raymond Drive to rezone the existing property/building from primarily industrial to the ICS Industrial and Commercial Services District to allow for a more diverse range of tenant uses. The Preliminary Review by the Village Board is a conceptual review for the Village Board to provide non-binding comments on a proposal prior to the applicant submitting to the Village a detailed application. The matter was referred to the Plan Commission for public review should the owner decide to proceed and submit a full application.
- Preliminary Review was presented for rezoning property owned by the Village of Northbrook to Institutional Building District for both a new Fire Station 11 at 820 Dundee Road and a new Fleet Maintenance Garage at 3504 Commercial Avenue and various zoning relief. The Preliminary Review by the Village Board is a conceptual review for the Village Board to provide non-binding comments on a proposal prior to the applicant submitting to the Village a detailed application. The matter was referred to the Plan Commission for public review should the owner decide to proceed and submit a full application.
