The Northbrook Farmers Market will host its 17th annual Closing Day Bash on Wednesday, October 8, sponsored by Bond Orthodontics, as the community bids farewell to the season. This year’s celebration features a variety of free activities:
- Hot apple cider served throughout the day.
- Scavenger hunt: Shoppers can search for painted gourds hidden around the market and exchange them at the Welcome Booth for a $10 certificate to use at any vendor (limit one per person).
- Apple taste-testing challenge: Participants will sample six different apple varieties and try to identify them. Each correct answer earns a fresh flower stem, and those who correctly name all six win a fresh bouquet valued at $20.
- Pumpkin decorating for children ages 2 to 6: From 9 a.m. to noon, children (with parent present) can decorate pumpkins with help from Northbrook Community Nursery School moms, who will provide supplies and guidance. Costumes are encouraged!
Live music will add to the festive atmosphere as visitors shop for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, artisanal soaps, baked goods, seasonal décor, and more. The event also offers an opportunity to get a head start on holiday gift shopping with unique, one-of-a-kind items.
The Northbrook Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, located at Meadow Road and Cherry Lane. The Closing Day Bash will only be canceled in the event of severe weather. Free onsite parking is available, and the market is fully accessible.
