This week, the Village of Northbrook proudly received two prestigious national honors from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recognizing outstanding achievement in financial reporting and budgeting.
Northbrook earned the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2024. The PAFR is a clear, user-friendly summary of the Village’s financial activities designed to make complex financial information more accessible and transparent to the public.
In addition, the Village was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which recognizes excellence in governmental budgeting. To qualify, Northbrook’s budget document was evaluated and rated “proficient” in four critical areas: serving as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool across 14 mandatory criteria.
These awards place Northbrook among a select group of local governments nationwide. Of the GFOA’s more than 25,000 members, only around 2,400 receive the PAFR Award each year, and about 1,700 earn the Budget Award. These honors underscore the Village’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial stewardship.
The Village extends special thanks to Chief Financial Officer Drazner, Deputy CFO Bozic, and all of staff for their dedication and hard work in maintaining Northbrook’s high standards of financial excellence.
