August 26, 2025 7:30 p.m. Meeting
Highlights of action taken include:
- The Oath of Office was taken by newly promoted Deputy Police Chief Bryan Meents, Commander John Seiler, Commander Jonathan Salmi, Sergeant Matthew Placek, and Office James Hoppers.
- Presented the following Proclamations recognizing:
- September 7 – 13 as Chamber of Commerce Week
- September as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
- Approved the advanced order of one fire engine to replace an engine scheduled to be decommissioned following its 20-year service life in FY29.
- Approved the continuation of the current State 1% grocery tax in calendar year 2026. Based on a change to State statute, a local ordinance is required for the Village to continue to receive this funding locally.
- Approved the design for the new Fire Station 11 to be located at 820 Dundee Road and the adaptive reuse of 3504 Commercial Avenue for a new Fleet Maintenance Garage and directed the development of construction drawings.
- Approved initial site work and early ordering of required items, such as generators for both Fire Station 11 and Fleet Maintenance Garage.
- Approved amending the Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Budget to carry forward unspent funds from the previous fiscal year, reallocate funds between or among accounts, and address new funding requests to meet evolving requirements.
- After discussion of a draft ordinance, the Village Board identified several regulations to prohibit the use of dirt bikes/electric motor bikes by unlicensed drivers on public streets and directed Village Staff to prepare revisions to the draft, including enforcement tools.

Future Meetings
Regular Village Board meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Agenda materials are posted the prior Friday by close of business on the Village Meeting Archive Portal.
