At its August 26 meeting, the Village Board approved development of construction drawings, initial site work and early ordering of critical items, such as emergency generators, for both the new Fire Station #11 and the new Fleet Maintenance Garage. These actions mark a significant milestone as the Village moves forward with replacing two important facilities that support Northbrook’s public safety operations.
Current Facilities Face Significant Challenges
Both facilities are central to Northbrook’s public safety services yet have reached the end of their useful life. Fire Station #11 is 53 years old, and the Fleet Maintenance Garage is 68 years old, each facing major structural and operational challenges, including space deficits, outdated infrastructure, and a lack of proper accommodations needed for shift workers. FGM Architects and Leopardo Construction are working with staff to design the new facilities. For a video tour of the current facilities click here.

Looking Ahead
While the Village is making significant progress on Fire Station #11 and the Fleet Maintenance Garage, work continues to identify appropriate locations for a new Fire Department Headquarters and a new Police Department facility. These future projects will further strengthen Northbrook’s long-term investment in public safety and community services.
