The Northbrook Historical Society invites you to gather downtown for the 47th annual Shermerfest, a cherished tradition since 1979. Join us on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Village Green Park and inside the Northbrook History Museum located at 1776 Walters Avenue.
Shermerfest is Northbrook’s second-oldest outdoor community event. It’s a vibrant event that brings neighbors together year after year.
Food, Music & Festivities
Visitors can enjoy popcorn, soft drinks, soup lunch, and ice cream, and browse colorful chrysanthemums for sale. The Northbrook History Museum will also offer guided tours for anyone curious about the village’s history. The Village Green gazebo will host live music throughout the afternoon, creating the perfect backdrop for a day of fun.
25th Annual “Classic Northbrook” Car & Truck Show
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the beloved Car and Truck Show. Community members are invited to register their vintage vehicles for both the CARavan parade and the Car Show for a small donation per vehicle. The CARavan will depart from the North Suburban YMCA (2705 Techny Road) at 10:30 a.m. and arrive at Village Green just after 11 a.m. There will be advance and day-of registration for both the Car Show and CARavan. No online registrations after September 19.
Events & Activities
- Cow Pie Moo-lette Raffle – Try your luck for a chance to win! With help from Wagner Farm, a large grid will be painted onto the Village Green. During a 30-minute window, a cow will choose the winning square. If the “pie” lands on your space, you win!
- Rotary Club Rubber Ducky Race – At 3 p.m., cheer on hundreds of rubber ducks as they float down the river. Ducks are $10 each, 3 for $25, or 15 for $100. Proceeds benefit local and global Rotary programs, and prizes are awarded to winning ducks.
- Chalk Up Northbrook – Hosted by the Village of Northbrook Arts Commission, this creative activity invites children ages 12 and under to decorate the Meadow Road sidewalk with colorful chalk art from 12-4 p.m. (first come, first serve).
Whether you come for the classic cars, the raffle, the duck race, or just the chance to enjoy food, music, and friends, Shermerfest captures the spirit of Northbrook like no other event. Bring your family, invite your neighbors, and join in on a day filled with memories, tradition, and community pride. View the program page for more information about Shermerfest.
