The Board of Local Improvements is convened to consider petitions for neighborhood improvements (street lights, sewers and streets) which are to be paid for through a special assessment. They determine if the project and the shares of the cost to be borne by individual property owners is consistent with the policies of the Village's capital improvement plan and the standards established for such projects under state law. This Board makes a recommendation to the Board of Trustees which, upon adoption of the appropriate ordinances, authorizes the improvement and imposes the special assessment on the benefited properties.
