Overview
The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a seven-member body comprised of volunteers from the community that serve in four-year terms. Members are appointed by the Village President with support of the Board of Trustees. With their diverse histories and professional backgrounds members provide insight and expertise in the decision-making process.
The ZBA is charged with conducting public hearings on applications for variances in accordance with Article 2-114 of the Northbrook Zoning Code. In those instances when a variance is associated with an application for development (e.g., Special Permit, Planned Development), the request is referred to the Plan Commission for review and recommendation to the Board of Trustees who make the final decision.
The ZBA process is conducted in strict conformance with the Illinois State Statutes regarding notice and notification requirements of surrounding property owners.
