Project Description

The Village of Northbrook plans for and funds the replacement of water main each year. A particular focus is placed on replacing 6-inch cast iron water mains as this is historically the worst performing main within the water distribution system. This project will focus on the Huntington Subdivision, which includes Russet Lane, Radcliffe Drive, Southwind Drive, Wessling Drive, Charles Drive, Stratford Place, Russet Court, and Eastwind Court.

The existing water main in the Huntington Subdivision is approximately 10,300 Feet of 6-Inch to 12-Inch cast iron water main that was installed in the 1960’s. The proposed water main will be 8-Inch to 12-Inch ductile iron or PVC water main. The new water main in this subdivision will generally be installed in the roadway with the open cut method. Additionally, there is approximately 30,000 Square Yards of deteriorated asphalt pavement that will be reconstructed in the subdivision following the installation of the water main. The project is currently being designed with construction anticipated in March 2024.
