Road Closure for Metra Railroad Crossing Repairs on Techny April 28 to May 7
Metra has informed the Village of Northbrook that it will perform major maintenance on the railroad crossing on Techny Road between Waukegan and Shermer Roads starting the morning of Monday, April 28. This project will require a full road closure on Techny Road at the railroad crossing for approximately 10 days. Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
What to Expect: Road Closure: Techny Road will be closed at the Milwaukee District North Line crossing (between Anets Dr. and Kingsley Cir.).
Detour Route: Shermer Road → Willow Road → Waukegan Road → back to Techny Road.
Access: Businesses and Park District facilities outside the closure area will remain open and accessible.
Delays: Motorists should allow extra travel time.
Additional Information:
Construction Noise: Train horns will sound throughout the construction period.
Sidewalks and Bike Lanes: Both will be closed at the crossing during construction.
