Single Family Addition
When the location of any part of the exterior walls and roof of a single family residence are changed, an addition permit is required. Examples would be single or multi-story addition, screen or open porch with roof, 3-season room, etc. See below for permit submittal requirements and for general construction information.

Application Requirements
- Permit Application Packet (PDF) - Documents below have been combined into this one PDF file.
- Building Permit Application
- Zoning Worksheet – Residential
- Building Site and Utility Data Worksheet
- Water Service and Meter Worksheet
- Fire Protection – Letter of Understanding (separate Fire Protection permit required)
- Contractor of Record (Contractor License Requirements / Contractor License Application)
Application Fees & Deposits
- Building Construction and Inspection Fee - $1.70 per square feet of floor area (One of the fees due at time of permit pick-up)
- Permit Application Deposit - $250 (Due at time of permit application submission)
- Additional fees may apply at time of permit pick-up
Drawing Requirements (To Be Submitted With Permit Application)
Please review the Residential Plan Review Checklist (PDF) prior to submitting your drawings and read through the Common Residential Plan Submission Mistakes (PDF).
- Construction Documents - 4 sets* (See Architectural Drawing Requirements (PDF))
- Civil Engineering Drawings - 4 rolled sets*
- Plat of Survey - 4 copies (survey must be sealed and be “to scale”)
Separate Permit Requirements
The following may occur with the construction of a new single family residence and require a separate permit:
- Back-Up Generator
- Deck/Patio (if not shown on the approved drawings for the new residence)
- Elevator (PDF)
- Fence
- Finish of Basement/Attic Space (PDF) (if not shown on the approved drawings for residence)
- Mission Brook Sanitary District Sewer Application (PDF) - For properties located within the Mission Brook Sanitary District
- Swimming Pool (Indoor or outdoor)
- Tree Removal
Construction Submittal Requirements
The following will apply during the course of construction:
- Energy Certificate and Instructions (PDF) - Included in permit documents returned to applicant upon permit pick-up
- Permit Revision Application (PDF)
- Spot/Location Survey Approval (PDF)
