The Village of Northbrook processes all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in accordance with Illinois state law. All requests for records, including documents and drawings, must be submitted to the Village in writing.
To request information, a FOIA Request form should be completed and emailed to FOIA@northbrook.il.us, faxed to 847-272-1892, or sent via regular postal service to Village Hall. This form is for 3rd party requests.
If you are the property owner (with proof of ownership) and need records on your property, submit a short FOIA form. The short FOIA form can be used by a property owner or 3rd party for plats of survey/subdivision.
The Village, by law, will respond no later than five business days after receipt of a non-commercial request. Commercial requests will receive a response no later than 21 business days after receipt. There is no charge to email responses. Any request resulting in more than 50 pages (black and white) will be assessed a fee according to the Annual Fee Ordinance. Certification is available for $1 per page.
The Document Imaging Department, now located on the first floor of Village Hall, is open from 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday and can be contacted at DocumentRecords@northbrook.il.us or 847-664-4168. At this time, walk-ins are not being accepted. Email is the preferred method of communication.
